Jon has been handcrafting shakuhachi fulltime for over twenty years. He is one of the very few who is both a licensed master of traditional Honkyoku music and an expert craftsperson. Jon focuses all of his efforts on jinashi and jimori shakuhachi. These are the only types of shakuhachi that preserve the natural inner bore of the bamboo. Because of this, they are also the most difficult types of shakuhachi to craft to a high level of refinement.
