By becoming a Member of the European Shakuhachi Society, you will be supporting our activities across Europe, including online workshops, commissions, the BAMBOO Magazine and more.
What are the benefits?
As a member, you get discounted tickets to online workshops and the annual European Shakuhachi Society Summer School, and you are also able to vote at the Annual General Meeting on important matters of the Society, including electing members of the ESS Board.
You will also have access to an exclusive ESS Members’ Area at members.shakuhachisociety.eu, which consists of exclusive online resources like past concert recordings, workshops, scores, recordings, and the entire back-catalogue of our BAMBOO Magazine and previous ESS Newsletters.
Once you have a valid membership subscription, our secretary will issue you with the relevant information on how you can access the online content.
ESS members also receive a 10% discount on all items purchased on www.shakuhachi.com. The offer includes jinuri, jinashi, restored vintage shakuhachi flutes, shakulute headjoints, accessories, playing guides, books, CDs, DVDs, etc. (and any of the items for sale). In order to receive this discount, you’ll have to quote your ESS membership number and expiration date to Monty Levenson, the owner of shakuhachi.com.
How much does it cost to join?
The annual membership subscription fee is €20 and your membership starts from the date of your first subscription payment.
The membership will be renewed automatically the following year and you will receive a notification about the renewal. If you wish not to have your membership renewed, please follow the instructions on our cancellations page.
Lifetime membership is also available for €300 one-off payment.
How do I join?
Joining the ESS is simple:
- Send an email to the ESS Membership Secretary, giving your name and contact details, and, if you wish, a little information about your interest in and experience with the Shakuhachi.
- Pay the membership fee using PayPal. If you cannot make payment using this method, please send an email to the ESS Membership Secretary so that alternative arrangements can be made.
